Krimml Waterfalls

Excursion to the Krimml Waterfalls in Pinzgau

Experience the elemental force of water in the mountains

Deep in the Innergebirg in Salzburger Land, on the border with Tyrol, lies the village of Krimml and thus the secret landmark of the Pinzgau: the thundering Krimml Waterfalls. The hiking trail here leads over the 3 steep steps, the lowest of the Krimml waterfalls is only a few minutes' walk from the car park, making it an easily accessible hiking destination for families with children.

Hikes

With a drop height of 380 metres in three stages, the Krimml Waterfalls are the highest waterfalls in the whole of Austria.

Hike to the Waterfalls

From the car park, you can reach the first waterfall in 10 to 15 minutes. The entire route to the top waterfall takes around 75 minutes. The main path is suitable for pushchairs and offers several rest stops. The path from the car park to the lowest waterfall is wheelchair accessible.

Where the Krimmler Ache swirls down through the forest, a steeply ascending hiking trail leads upwards for visitors. In places, the path leads so close to the water that the spray wets the skin - a welcome refreshment on hot days.

Good for your health

The finely atomised water even has a demonstrably positive effect on health. The high concentration of negative ions in the vicinity of the waterfall stimulates the immune system, frees up congested airways and reduces the symptoms of allergy sufferers and asthmatics.

Ascent into the Krimmler Achental

The sound of the water is accompanied by marvellous views that get better and better the higher you climb. Many viewing platforms invite you to rest, take photos and enjoy the view.

At the top, the path leads into the Krimmler Achental valley, which spreads out before you in its vast beauty and invites you to continue the hike.
