The Mirabell Gardens in Salzburg
To the south of Mirabell Palace in Salzburg is the impressive garden parterre of Mirabell Gardens. At the heart of the symmetrically laid out baroque garden is the ‘Great Fountain Basin’, surrounded by four pairs of figures symbolising the elements of water, fire, air and earth. A highlight of the Mirabell Gardens in Salzburg is the lime tree grove. Between the old trees are ancient statues symbolising the seasons and transience.
The dwarf garden in Mirabell Gardens
On the western side of Mirabell Gardens, a path leads to the Heckentheater, which is used for traditional events in summer. Take a walk through the historic dwarf garden, of which more than half of the original 28 dwarf figures are still preserved today. Since its opening to the public in 1854, Mirabell Gardens has attracted visitors from all over the world. The rose garden with its impressive ornamental rose beds lies to the south of Mirabell Palace. This is a popular photo spot.
