How to Get to Salzburg's Top Attraction
Getting to Salzburg's Landmark by Car
Salzburg's old town is a pedestrian zone and not accessible by car, which makes driving directly to Hohensalzburg Fortress difficult. For this reason, we recommend using the public parking garages at Mönchsberg or Nonntal. You can have your parking ticket stamped at the ticket office for a discounted rate near Hohensalzburg Fortress.
Getting There by Public Transport
Hotel Scherer is located only about a 7-minute walk from Salzburg's main train station. From there, you can take O-Bus lines 1, 3, 5, 6 and 25 directly into Salzburg's city centre. Get off at the Rathaus or Ferdinand-Hanusch-Platz stops, from where it's about a five-minute walk to Hohensalzburg Fortress.
Getting There on Foot
From Hotel Scherer, you can reach Hohensalzburg Fortress on foot in just 30 minutes. The route takes you through Salzburg's charming old town, past historic squares and sights. This way, you can already experience the city's rich culture and history on your way to Salzburg's landmark.
