Krimml Waterfalls

Experience the elemental power of water in the mountains

Excursion to the Krimml Waterfalls in Pinzgau in Austria

Deep in the Innergebirg in the Salzburg region, at the border to Tyrol, you will find the town of Krimml and with it, the wonderful landmark of the Pinzgau: the roaring Krimml Waterfalls. Hike close to the flowing water cascading hundreds of meters and experience the refreshing effect of this elemental power.

Hikes

Hike at the Krimml Waterfalls

With a drop height of 380 metres in three drop levels, the Krimml Waterfalls are the highest waterfalls in all of Austria.

Hike to the Waterfalls

From the car park, you can reach the first waterfall in approx. 10-15 minutes. For the entire route to the uppermost waterfall, you will need approx. 75 minutes.

Where the Krimmler Ache river swirls down through the woods, a steeply climbing hiking path runs upwards for visitors. Part of the route runs so close to the water that the spray wets the skin – a welcome refreshment on hot days.

Good for your health

The finely atomised water even has a proven positive effect on health. The high concentration of negative ions near the waterfall stimulates the immune system, frees stressed airways and reduces complaints among allergy suffers and asthmatics.

Ascent into the Krimml Achental

The roaring of the water is joined by fabulous views that get better as you climb higher. Many observation platforms provide rest, photo opportunities and a view to enjoy.

At the top, the path joins the Krimmler Achental, which spreads out before you in vast beauty and invites you to continue your hike.

Waterworlds – Exhibition about the Krimml Waterfalls

Waterfall in winter

Admission to the Waterworlds in the visitor centre is included in the ticket. The exhibition offers plenty of amusements, from interactive adventure worlds to experiment stations.

Children and parents also enjoy the open-air area, where a playground and a Kneipp station await. The restaurant with a panorama terrace also offers typical Pinzgau dishes and drinks to restore your energy. The Krimml Waterfalls can be visited daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from May to October. You should allow at least two hours to arrive there from Salzburg.
