Guided bike tours in Salzburg

Let certified Austria Guides take you to Salzburg’s sights – on a bike! At Bike & the City, you can choose between two different options: Classic Bike Tour or Luxury Bike Tour.

While the former takes you from Mozartplatz to Salzburg Cathedral, via the Festival District and the Residenz to Leopoldskron and Hellbrunn Palaces, the Luxury Bike Tour also includes a culinary stop with typical Salzburg specialities. Alternatively, on Fräulein Maria’s Bicycle Tour you can explore selected Salzburg sights such as the Pferdeschwemme or Nonnberg Abbey in a small group.

The Tauern Cycle Trail runs from Krimml in the Pinzgau, Salzburg region to Bavaria’s Passau. The 310km-long route (270km-long when taking the Tauern Cycle Trail circuit) runs directly along the Salzach through Salzburg. The Hotel Scherer lies almost directly on the route – making it ideal for spending the night.

You can, however, start the Tauern Cycle Trail in Salzburg or just complete part of the Tauern Cycle Trail, e.g. from Salzburg to Oberndorf with the famous Silent Night Chapel (approx. 18km), to Bad Reichenhall (approx. 23km) or to Hallein, the city of salt (approx. 16km).

On the tracks of Mozart: Mozart Cycle Trail

On this 454km-long circular tour, you can follow in the footsteps of Mozart from Salzburg city into the Salzburg region and neighbouring Bavaria. The stages leading to the Salzburg Lakelands, into Chiemgau and through numerous cities are worth seeing.

Along the Salzach through the city and into the green countryside

The bike is also an ideal method of transport for brief tours through the city and into the surrounding area. On the left bank of the Salzach, you can cycle to the Salzachsee-Saalschspitz conservation area. At the Saalachspitz, the Saalach joins the Salzach. The Tauern Cycle Trail runs along both banks of the Salzach and you can enjoy a stunning view of the UNESCO World Heritage-designated historic centre of Salzburg.
