Mirabell Palace in Salzburg
Splendour and history in the heart of Salzburg
Mirabell Palace and its gardens in Salzburg were built in 1606 at the request of Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau and were originally named "Altenau". It was intended as a love gift to his Salome Alt, and it is not least because of this history that the Marble Hall in Mirabell Palace is always booked out well in advance as a dream wedding location. Later, in the 17th century, it was given its current name "Mirabell Palace", which means "admirable" and "beautiful". This name perfectly reflects the impressive beauty of Mirabell Palace and the Mirabell Gardens. The entire complex and the gardens surrounding the palace are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
